The first Slovenian National Consultations in support of the development of a Concept of Mineral Deposits of Public Importance (MDoPI) took place on 25th February 2016 at the premises of the Geological Survey of Slovenia in Ljubljana. We are glad to report that Stakeholders from different sectors responded all, recognizing the importance of the topic and therefore the need for future exchange of views in support of further developing the concept and its implementation framework. In the interactive part of the workshop Stakeholders had the opportunity to discuss the proposed MDoPI definition, situation and importance of mineral deposits in Slovenia, as well as their future access and protection within spatial planning. This workshop is good input for future work of MINATURA2020 Consortium while highlighting the need for such joined and constructive meetings.
